The IDRC Research Chair on Forced Displacement in Anglophone West Africa, Prof. Mary B. Setrana, has been promoted to the rank of Full Professor by the University of Ghana Governing Council.
The appointment was announced by the Council Secretary and Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agye-Mensah, following the Governing Council meeting held on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Prof. Setrana, who was promoted to Full Professor of Migration and Social Change, currently serves as Director of the Centre for Migration Studies (CMS), University of Ghana. Her promotion reflects her outstanding scholarship, dedication to teaching and mentorship and significant contributions to migration research and policy engagement in Ghana, Africa and beyond.
As the IDRC Research Chair on Forced Displacement in Anglophone West Africa, Prof. Setrana leads efforts to advance research, strengthen research capacity and generate evidence on forced displacement in the region. Through the Chair, she continues to support emerging researchers, foster scholarly collaboration and promote research that contributes to policy and practice on forced displacement.
Her promotion to the rank of Full Professor marks an important milestone in her academic career and recognises her sustained contributions to scholarship, research leadership and the study of migration and social change.
